AI-generated overview
Nathan Gotch predicts no disruption larger than what has already occurred in SEO over the past year, unless AGI (Artificial General Intelligence) arrives and fundamentally changes everything. He views Google's introduction of AI Mode as the major disruption event that already happened, with Google having already taken clicks away from traditional organic results. Rather than anticipating further upheaval, Gotch sees the industry in a post-disruption phase where practitioners are "picking up the pieces" and determining strategic direction. He believes the path forward is becoming clearer as the industry adapts to the new reality of AI-integrated search. This perspective positions 2024-2025 as the adjustment period following the main disruption rather than anticipating new shocks ahead. The only exception he identifies would be the emergence of AGI, which he frames as an unpredictable wild card that could completely reshape the landscape beyond current forecasting abilities.

What's your biggest AI prediction for SEO in the next six to 12 months?
There's been so much disruption over the last couple of years.
And even actually this last year with Google bring in AI mode
and we knew that was coming.
But for me, you know, I don't, I don't see a situation where there
could be any bigger disruption than what's already happened, unless
AGI comes and it just blows, you know, blows everything out of the
water, because Google has already taken clicks away, I think it's already happened.
And now, now we're, we're picking up the pieces and we're trying to figure out,
okay, how do, where do we go from here?
I think it's starting to become a lot more clear.
